AP Credits for Gap Year

Do students who take an AP test while on a gap year still get credit? The wording on the site (http://collegecatalog.uchicago.edu/thecollege/examinationcreditandtransfercredit/) seems vague. The site says credit is received for “examinations taken in high school (i.e., before a student matriculates in the College)” What about a gap-year student who is taking the AP before he matriculates, but after he has technically graduated high school?

I’m pretty sure the gap year isn’t a factor in getting credit for AP courses but I’d send an email to the admissions office and check
