Taking AP exams during gap year?

Is it possible to take any additional AP exams post-high school, granted I am not enrolled in a college? I plan to work for a year before enrolling in a college.

I googled it and couldn’t find much, but this is what I saw on an old CC thread:

Anyone who is willing to shell out the money, and show up on exam day, can take the AP exams. A number of adults who write about education issues have done just this.

Whether or not the college/university in question will give you credit/placement for that exam is an entirely different story. You should verify that you will be given credit/placement for a given score before you spend your money on a “late” AP exam.
