I will be attending UMD this fall and am currently signed up for orientation before my AP scores will be released. However, many of my AP scores will be important in determining my schedule for my freshman year (for example, I would like to place into Calc III because I’m confident I got a 5 on BC Calc). Since my scores come out after my orientation, does anyone know the policy for choosing your schedule without your AP scores? Can I pretend like I have the credit, or should I pretend like I don’t have the credit and then can I change my schedule later? Or should I try to change my orientation date so that I will know my AP scores by orientation?
@RybkaShredder - Did you select to have your scores automatically sent to UMD? If so, you can check your “Unofficial Transcript” on Testudo
Look for the words Unofficial Transcript in the first block on that page and log in with your Directory ID and password to see if they are there yet.
Thanks for the info @SoofDad but AP scores are not normally released until early July. Fortunately for me I did write UMD’s college code on all of my AP exams so that my scores would be automatically sent there, but I don’t know how much in advance I will be able to access these scores. I am registered for the June 27-28 orientation and AP scores are supposed to be released to everyone on July 5th. I know UMD posts the AP scores when they receive them, and I know they receive them several days in advance, but I don’t know if it will be in time for my orientation.
@rybi23 - Yes, UMD will get them a bit sooner than you. Perhaps you should call admissions and ask them if they expect to have your scores by the orientation date
You can’t register for a class that requires an AP score if UMD doesn’t have the score yet. The system is set up to minimize failure which means they don’t like to make exceptions. I tried to do what you’re doing my freshman year and even with almost all 5s on about 10 exams they wouldn’t let me register for a class where I needed a 3 on AP Gov. Make a full schedule you’re happy with at orientation without Calc III and have one with Calc III ready for when the scores come in.
