I have took AP math, physics, chemistry, CS in high schoold and got all 5s. I am wondering if Berkeley offers credits for these AP course. And what’s you opinion it we should accept these credits if offered? I heard people saying that they would rather study the courses again because 1) make it more “solid” 2) get better GPA (since you already know must of it)
Note that the above link lists division-level AP credit policies. For the College of Letters and Science, there are also specific majors which may offer subject credit or advanced placement for specific AP scores. You need to check the department web sites for the majors that you are interested in.
What major(s) are you interested in?
If you intend to take a course for which the AP credit is allowed to skip a prerequisite course, you may want to try the old final exam for the course to be skipped. For example, if you have a 5 on AP calculus AB, then you may be allowed to skip Math 1A for many majors. If you plan to take Math 1B, it is best to try the old final exams for Math 1A to check your knowledge before deciding whether the skip Math 1A. If you know the material well, better to skip it and use the schedule space for some interesting elective now or later.
Old final exams for many science and math courses can be found at https://tbp.berkeley.edu/courses/ .
