I've taken many AP tests, and I realise that most of them can only be used for general elective credits. I also know that a 5 on the Calc BC test gets me out of both calculus semesters. However, I'm wondering if 5's on the Chemistry, Biology, and Physics exams will allow me to skip those prerequisites for my Molecular Biology or Chemistry major.

In addition, if I do a History major, would 5's on APUSH, Euro, and World allow me to satisfy any of the prereqs(US History, European History, and a course about another world region)?

For MCB, see [2012 Freshmen](New Freshmen Q&A | Molecular and Cell Biology) .

For chemistry, see [College of Chemistry - University of California at Berkeley - Publications](http://chemistry.berkeley.edu/student_info/undergrad_info/publications/index.php) .

For history, there appears to be no mention of using AP credit for any major requirements at [The Major | Department of History, UC Berkeley](Major Requirements | Department of History) . A reasonable assumption would be that it not accepted, though you can ask the department to be sure.

Of course, you could choose courses to fulfill the history major requirements that do not exactly duplicate the AP courses, so that they are not “wasted” in terms of what you can learn about.

You may want to see the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-berkeley/1305840-freshman-math-faq.html about your AP calculus credit and math course placement.

If you have 5 on AP Chem, you can skip Chem 1A and take Chem 3A.

5 on AP Bio should get you out of Bio 1A and 5 on AP Physics should get you out of Physics 8A/7A, but you should definitely check on that.

Otherwise, even if the AP credit technically does not waiver the equivalent courses in Berkeley, you are more than welcome to sign up for the ‘next-level’ classes.
