AP Credits

I want to find out which AP’s Amherst gives credit for, but the only way to do that now seems to be by going through every single department’s website and searching for the info individually. This. is. tedious.

Is there a list somewhere that states what kind of AP credit Amherst gives? That would be sooo helpful thanks

According to the Amherst website:

IB, AP and College Courses
If you have taken International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement or college courses during secondary school, we view this as significant evidence of your academic accomplishment and preparation. In addition, some Amherst departments will allow you to forgo introductory-level courses in areas in which you have already completed rigorous work. However, we do not accept such courses for credit or advanced standing.

<a href="https://www.amherst.edu/admission/apply/firstyear_app%5B/url%5D">https://www.amherst.edu/admission/apply/firstyear_app</a></p>

Biology, Chemistry, Macroeconomics + Microeconomics, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Psychology, Statistics...

As far as I know, after having skimmed our Course Catalog.

You should feel comfortable conferring with Department chairs or representatives about placement, finding courses that will sufficiently challenge you.

And, indeed, Amherst does not grant credit toward graduation for AP/IB tests taken before enrollment.
However, these exams can be used to place out of introductory courses.

D received no credit. However, she did place out of lower level courses in her major field. Also, the first week there as a freshman, we attended a social with the FL Dept., and we spoke to the German profs. She had a couple years, did not take the AP test, and felt what she learned was limited. I was there when they told her to skip a course and which one to sign up for. They really do know what your level is, so talk to the profs and see what they have to say.l
