AP Difficulty

How hard is the AP exam for US government?

Depends on the person, if you can retain information without a problem then it should be relatively easy for you. If not, I suggest writing notes per chapter or through the review book itself. It is also helpful to have took apush.

Do we have to know all the amendments and court cases? Have you taken the exam?

I am taking it this year, and yes the court cases are a biggy. If you’d like, I can send you a list of court cases with a brief description that my teacher “guarantees” will be asked about in the exam.

Oh my goodness. If you can, that’ll be amazing!!! I’m so nervous about taking this exam. This is the first year my school has AP classes. ._.

Sure thing, I’ll DM you the packet later. I recommend the crash course prep book by the way unless you know very little about the topic then in that case pick up the Princeton or Barron’s. :)

What’s DM? Oh, our teacher gave us the Princeton Review book. Should I get a crash course book?

Direct message, the inbox button is in the upper right hand corner next to the globe by your username. Princeton Review will suffice but the Crash Course simplifies everything for you in case all the info. gets overwhelming.

Oh yes, please send me a message! So the Crash Course is a big review book?

Big, in terms of size? If so, not at all. Very tiny and concise, you could probably read it in a day. Big, in terms of popularity, then yes. Crash Course seems to be the most popular type of prep book for APUSH and AP Gov. On deciding between the two, it really depends on your confidence in the amount of info. you have retained and will be capable to retain. I personally have both because I never feel prepared enough, plus they were relatively cheap on half.com since I bought the older edition, heh.

Oh haha, thanks, I think I’ll get one as well. Aside from memorizing the court cases, what else do we need to memorize?

As far as I know, I was told to focus on events that shook the role of the government (Great Depression) as well as factors that affect the government itself (Interest groups and political parties).

What were the affects of the Great Depression? Can you send the court cases to me?

Well the Great Depression initiated a series of social welfare programs, inevitably expanding the role of the government. And, it will take awhile to scan so I promise to send you them tomorrow, for now I have to start on a gov project I told myself I would do last week.

The welfare programs were under the New Deal right? Haha, okay. Are you a procrastinator?

Aren’t we all procrastinators to some extent? I am just fairly good at being one, I sent you a message about the court cases.

Me too, especially when I do work on my computer. Thanks~! I messaged back
