Has anyone participated in this program? What was it like? Is it beneficial in the college app process? Does it increase you chances if you apply EA from this program? What are the stats?

I did, and it was great. The admissions for it is actually fairly competitive. Basically they treat you just like undergrads, and you take two full CMU classes in a six-week semester...so it is very challenging.

It definitely helps you in admissions if you get in AND if you do well. Most of the students I kept in touch with were either admitted or deferred, very few were rejected (though they may be in the final cut for the ones who were deferred) Not only that, but you're basically getting your foot in the door. For instance, I was able to have a CMU professor write a rec letter for me because he was impressed with my performance in his class as an AP/EA student. I was also able to have an on-campus interview with an admissions officer over the summer.

I also met a ton of current CMU undergrads through the program, which has continued to help me, and I'll know upperclassmen when I return as a freshman.

Only summer students can apply EA, but admissions says if CMU is your first choice you should still apply binding ED.

I can't recommend this program enough for rising seniors. I wouldn't do it as a rising junior because the hardest part for me was readjusting to HS life after being a college student for 6 weeks, but they allow rising juniors to apply and there were a few in one of my classes.
