My S is a freshman and wants to take virtual AP economics next year as his HS does not offer AP Econ. What are some good virtual programs? He will also need to take virtual AP stat in his J r year. Our state does not offer virtual AP courses so we will buy whichever is the best. He is aiming for a 5 and is a strong student who wants to ultimately go to a top business school. His high school will allow him to take the virtual course during school and the grade will be listed on his transcript. Any suggestions?

My high school offers online AP Macro and Micro economics through a statewide classroom thing. It’s called Michigan Virtual University, and the class runs like a regular class with assignments, quizzes, even a discussion board. I’m taking AP Microeconomics online right now, and I am finding it quite difficult to fully understand the material. Economics is a subject that you want a teacher to ask questions to. I’m currently learning everything out of a textbook, and I doubt I will perform well on the AP test. As far as good virtual programs, I’m not aware of any independent online programs, but I have never looked for one.

I’m doing it through Keystone HS because it’s cheaper (500 dollars total I believe, compared to 800 dollars+ for some other places) and does the job of raising my GPA etc.

I appreciate both of your responses. I am new to college confidential and just finding my way. Any one out ther tried virtaul Virginia?
