AP English Lang as a freshman?

I don’t understand why you are considering to take ap lang when english is your “worst subject”.

I have many friends who are juniors that are in ap lang & comp. and they are struggling a ton in the class.

If you plan to take it only because of its prestige and name, you really shouldn’t take the class.

In my opinion, you shouldn’t take AP Lang, you are skipping two levels of english: two years of learning to read and write better.
Unless you have a college level reading level, and you can write like someone who is two years older than you, go ahead and take the class.

that being said, i’m not putting you down; you seem very gifted in school and it’s great you want to take the course.

@ivyyhopeful. This is old. OP is already in his second semester.

It’d be interesting to hear what OP decided and how it turned out.

OP wishes people would stop reviving his old threads. I believe he called them “cringy.”

But regardless it’d still be a good lesson for current 8th and 9th graders. Op should see it as a public service to all 12,13, and14year olds in the same position he was. Explaining why they’re cringe woethybto him now might also impart useful information that younger teens need.

Do not post every little problem or dilemma that you have! That is one of many things to learn lmao. Also, some of my threads are just so bleh. I was so dumb idk.

Anyways, I did not decide to take AP Lang. The process would have been lengthy, and I would rather take the class with friends and familiar faces. If I did take the class, there would be nothing to fill my english spot for the next few years. Finally, I did not want to bite off more than I could chew. I could use a few more years of English before taking it as a junior. Do not become AP hungry as a freshman lol. Your time will come.

THANK YOU so much for giving us this well-developed feedback.
I’m sure it’ll be quite useful to many students.

As a frosh, probably not a great idea unless you are just writing the Dickens out of everything you touch.
