ap english lang or lit

my school does not offer ap english junior year. we take english 3 honors instead. for senior year, we can either choose lang or lit. which one will look better for college? Which one is awarded more credit? i personally would prefer lang but i've seen some colleges give higher placement for lit. I want to major in business/engineering and really do not want to take english in college.

I’m not sure which one would look better but I feel like AP Language is more valuable. You learn really important writing skills. Just my opinion :)

I agree with soccersara

I think the Lang practices strong writing skills. If you love to read, then Lit may be more enjoyable.

I’ve been researching AP credits for my son. In the colleges I’ve reviewed I haven’t seen a preference of one over the other. I have seen many schools that will only give credit for either/or if the student takes both.

i took ap lang and i loved it! it made me such a better writer and it really forces you to analyze a book and the styles of how authors write. the essays can be tedious (well mine were) but i mean if you really enjoy writing then it shouldn’t be that big of a problem.

If you really like to write and want to improve your writing, ap lang is the way to go because your writing will be miles better.

ap lang will be a better class to take imo. it’ll help you in the long run.

The AP English Lang exam is easier than the Lit exam. many kids take the Lang exam without ever having taken the actual class.
