ap english lang or lit

my school does not offer ap english junior year. we take english 3 honors instead. for senior year, we can either choose lang or lit. which one will look better for college? Which one is awarded more credit? i personally would prefer lang but i've seen some colleges give higher placement for lit. I want to major in business/engineering and really do not want to take english in college.

Language is filled with essays and rhetoric and non-fiction stuff. Or at least, that’s how it was in my experience. If you prefer that, don’t bother with thinking what the college would prefer. It barely matters.

If you can only choose one, definitely do AP Lang. It helps you become a lot better at writing because of the amount of essays you do (well…depending on your teacher)

I’ve never heard of schools giving more credit for AP Lit. You’ll usually get one level of English exemption for each test.

That being said, AP Lit is pretty boring. It’s mostly analysis of poems from like the 17th century and useless pieces of prose…

^Well the UC’s have a whole other system going for them…most private universities I’ve looked up give equal credit
