Thanks!

my last two practice tests i got
35right-14wrong MC 9,9,8

and
39-11 MC 9,9,8

i know there is no way i’ll be able to replicate those essays

how much of a decline do you think there will be?

I’m guessing my analysis scores from my practice won’t change at all, synthesis might drop 1 point, and argumentative is just out there. Depending on the prompt, I’m guessing my score for that will range from a 5 to a 9.

i just took a practice test and i got…6 wrong and 6 blank and 43 right

essays i usually get 7’s, sometimes 8’s…what score am i lookin at here?

Someone have the 1996 MC questions?

That’s a 5. By the scoring thing in the Cliff’s Notes book, all you need is about 7’s on your essays and 31-32 MC Raw Score.
So if you get 35 right on MC, and do decent on essays, maybe 7,7,6, then you will end up with a 5.

has anyone aced a MC section?

Doesn’t really matter then, the MC

What the scores you need for 4s and 5s on this exam?
Like what how many right in MC and what essay scores?
My teacher said you only need to get 1/2 of the MC right and then 6s on the essays for a 3, but what about 5/4?

I fail at the multiple choice! It takes me twenty minutes to do one passage and I still get some wrong. Any tips?

Same here. Stay up all night reading Dickens I guess

they changed the scale, it’s a 105+ for a 5
you need like 38+ on the MC with a 7,7,6 essay.

I’m averaging about -5/6 on the MC, so feeling pretty confident. Here’s some advice:

For tone/mood questions, circle whatever you feel. The passage is designed so that the tone/mood has to be obvious, or else people can argue against it. Usually, the passages are strong and elicit certain reactions, which tend to be correct responses.

Key Words!!! Most important part imo. The answer to every question MUST be in the passage. Drill this into your head. I used to miss like 11/12 until I realized this has to be, and my score shot up. Look for key words or qualifiers. These key words in the passage give you hints to the correct answer. For example, the answer to an ap question was B) Spiritual Dimension, and here is FLVS’s explanation for it:

You absolutely have to understand the significance of phrases in the passage.

Reread #2. It’s that important.

Critical analysis. Be confident about your approach. If you run out of time, just skim over the passage and answer the questions. Often times, especially for older period passages, I’ll be like “***?” at first but the answer choices make the passage pretty clear. Read the answers first if it helps understand the passage. In general, don’t get frustrated, keep your cool, and try to understand the connections.

Best of luck tomorrow everyone!

Very useful post ^

“they changed the scale, it’s a 105+ for a 5
you need like 38+ on the MC with a 7,7,6 essay.”

Are you serious? Wooo! From what I remember, out of like 60 questions, you can get like 20 wrong and still get that.

Is it 60 questions for the MC? Also, what are the normal three essays for APEng? In our class we’ve done so many different types of inclasses that I forgot what’s mandatory and what’s not.

I find Kaplan to be a pretty good indicator - I got an 86% on a practice MC test, after learning about how to interpret tone/mood, rhetorical devices, etc. If you guys want to get a 5, just read the Help Posts on this thread, they’re good enough for that. Essays ARE worth slightly more than MC though.

Does anyone have links to practice MC + answers though?

^^
it’s like around 55? for MC
essays:
analysis/rhetorical strategies
argumentative
synthesis (the DBQ-like thing)

structure. Can somebody tell me what is normal and what is rogerian(claim background etc… and conclusion lol).

Anyone have any tips for writing a synthesis?

What is my chance of getting a 5?

MC- 41/55 on a practice test

essays:
syn- 7
analyze- 5
own argument-6

geroll: Use the docs to your advantage, don’t refute them.

I just took a practice REAL exam
44 raw score (8 wrong, 46 right)
arg: 7
and I predict I’ll get 6/7 on the other two essays.
Is that 5 material?
