@freestyle Good luck! I’m sure you did fine, and if you didn’t you don’t have to report it. But don’t worry; just relax until July :)

im worried about the synthesis, and honestly i dont think they grade too easy. That one person got a 5 and their essay was all right (or maybe im just way too easy…lol).

This might be a really dumb question but I honestly didn’t learn anything about the AP test this year.

How were we supposed to address the argumentative essay since it said ‘to what extent’?

My teacher told us it would always say defend, challenge, or qualify.

“To what extent” essentially means “defend, challenge, or qualify.” If his characterization holds true, you defend it. If it does not, you challenge it. If it partially holds true, qualify it.

@jroth456 Yep, exactly what @garfieldliker said. “To what extent” = “defend, challenge, or qualify.”

@Needshelp1212 Don’t worry; you should be fine for getting at least a 5 as long as you didn’t totally and completely **** it up, which I’m sure you didn’t.

hey guys…i just realized that i was completely off-topic for the last argument essay…
It was asking for America’s unity and I disagreed with what Thomas Paine said.
I dont know why and how i did this but…i gave two examples that were about ENGLAND, not America…
For example, i wrote about Virginia Wolfe’s The Room of One’s Own and how women, just like in the 1800’s still have hard time finding a place in society.
The other one was about the VIctorian Age and how many authors published works that addressed problems or controversies in society…and yes i must have been out of my mind…i COMPLETELY forgot that this was English lit, not american…

As you can see, my two examples were completely off-topic…
Do you think i could still get some points with this? cuz i belieive that although there certainly is a flaw with my examples, i well presented my argument through them…
I’m freaking out…Could any of you give me an advice?? what would be my score??

it was asking for america’s unity? Well Paine had a long paragraph there so there was a lot of things you could have done with the prompt. Like I talked about how the rich ARE privileged and the poor are stuck along with discussing america’s lack of unity

To your question im honestly not sure. Did you connect those examples to American society?

You could probably get a 4. But if you did well on the other 2 essays and the multiple choice, that could still be a 5 overall on the test.

Will my grade suffer if I took a side in the synthesis??? In all of my practice exams, they always asked you to defend/challenge/qualify, so I just kind of assumed this synthesis was like that too…

My synthesis was really good, included some humor, and was almost 4 pages… But I’m afraid I’ll be marked down to not “evaluating the issues” or whatever…

Strawberry; I took a side and from my understanding that was fine. I’m confident they will see i answered the question as well because one of my body paragraphs started with, "Another key issue associated with the locavore movement is ____. And why are you guys asking questions about it almost 2 weeks later. Quit stressing and just wait for july 1st…lol
