AP English Language/Composition Post Test

so what'd everyone think?

MC were a bit difficult but I felt I did really well on the essays. At first, the synthesis one seemed random but the documents helped a lot

I thought MC wasn’t bad (for once)! Essays were fine except for the last one (argumentation). Hoping for a 5! :)

I thought MC was really easy. The essays were straightforward but it wasn’t my best writing. Hoping for a 5.

The synthesis was pretty bad for me. The rest was alright.

Yeah my conclusions could’ve been better. I went 10 min over on the synthesis one and stayed 10 min in debt until the third essay, when I made it up and ultimately finished

I didn’t think the synthesis was that bad! Does anyone agree the argumentative one was?

MC was redic easy.

Synthesis was awesomeee. AP environmental+economics ftw. (8/9, hopefully)

Analyzing was pretty good. I threw down alot of high level terms, but my tone/organization were a little off. (7 hopefully)

^ yeh I agree. The Argumentative one was average/below average. I had weak examples and some poor writing (+ poor hand writing hahah). However I went with like 5 examples–all pretty weak. I think I was scattered in my organization, also. (6 hopefully, but most likely a 5)

Just like everyone else I’m hoping for a 5.

^ Haha I know! Tons of my examples were AP Euro-esque!

hey
i just took the ap English exam today and im really nervous because i have HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE handwriting and im really scared that my essays are gonna lose TONZ of points cuz of it!!! anyone else know the policy for penmanship or have this problem also i took bio on monday and i REALLY knew free response but im worried that my handwriting will be so bad that they will just skip it over! SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME

I think I did really well. Obviously, I would love a 5, but I’m hoping for a 4! I was very proud of my essays and I wrote 4 body paragraphs for the synthesis!

^^ Yeh I’m a little nervous too man. My hand writing isn’t awful but it definately went from Pretty fair->almost non readable as time went on.

If they can read it, you’re good. Obv they may be a little ticked off, but I think they are used to it.

thought the essay prompts were pretty easy! hoping for a 5! :)

PHEW! It was easier than I expected.

I think the last essay was my best… I had a very staunch argument and a lot of examples. Conclusions could have been better, analysis could have been better…MCs were easy, but I sort of rushed through them. I aimed for a 4 but we’ll see what happens.

Thing is, my brain doesn’t feel fried. That may indicate I didn’t do as well as I hoped. :'/

Ffffffff…

So I essentially got screwed by both parts of the test. In the multiple choice section, I was running out of time so I could not focus on the last two passages. Some of the questions were a bit difficult as they required some thought, though on the other hand, some were pretty easy. Perhaps what really screwed my over was that I had to use the restroom the whole hour - caffeinated energy drinks in the morning screw me over - and I couldn’t focus as much as I’d have liked.

I think the essays went a bit better, though as with the MC section, I did not get finished with the third essay (easily my weakest one by default). I thought I did pretty well on the synthesis essay, enough to score a 7 or, if I am lucky, an 8. I didn’t do as good on the rhetorical analysis essay, but I think I still managed to score a solid 6.

■■■. I was hoping for the 5, but my chances are pretty slim at this point.

^ what is a 70-77 percent MC 38-42 questions correct, and my essay scores are the following: 1. 6-7 2. 7-8 3. 7-8. Is that a 5?

that would be like a very high four…almost a five but not…for those exact scores you gave if you did even a little better you would get a five [AP Pass - AP English Language Calculator](AP English Language Test Score Calculator - AP Pass)

@etennis: It’s a pretty close call… you straddle the border in some of the possible variations given the ranges you provided (this is using [AP Pass - AP Test Calculators, Study Guides, and Resources](http://www.APPass.com)).

I’m pretty sure I’m in the same situation. There were 10 questions that I wasn’t positive of, and I had to rush through the last two passages because spent too much time thoroughly reading the first two. I’d say I got ~39 MC and a 5-6, 6-7, 8-9 on my essays.

The passages were not that bad. I was so glad that they were fairly contemporary and not terribly difficult to comprehend. Timing was my only issue on the MC… otherwise I could have aced it. The essays weren’t bad either. I wrote them totally out of order, first analysis (my strong point)… banking on an 8/9 there, then argumentative (5/6 there)… this one was a bit challenging (I wrote against his views), and the synthesis was plain confusing. I realized after I had wrote my essay that I misunderstood what we were supposed to do… I wasn’t far off, but I probably cost myself a few points.

the timing thing screwed me over so bad. i checked the time every 5 minutes but i just couldn’t keep up on the MC and by the end i couldn’t focus because i was worried about the time…i’m just a slow reader and the questions really weren’t bad for the most part but i just didnt have time to finish. the only thing that made me feel better was that some kid only got to #35. haha. i’m screwed for the FR as well…i didn’t even get to the argument prompt. the synthesis essay was pretty easy and the RA wasn’t terrible but i was kind of freaking out about time so it definitely wasn’t my best work… even if i score well on those essays though i’ll still have a low score. i’m so mad because i usually did very well on the MC practice in class and the lowest i’ve gotten on an essay this year is an 8…and our teacher has scored the AP exam. but i also never finished a timed essay in under an hour :expressionless: so i prob got a 3. so mad…

worst case scenario… a very very high 4… like 3 points away to a 5.

Best case scenario is a pretty high 5.

Danng you so lucky… I’m like on the brink of a super high 3 or barely a 4 :((

Does anybody know what my ap score will be if I got:
36>MC (67%)
1.5-7, (maybe 6)
2.6-8 (maybe 7)
3.7-9 (maybe 8)
The appass calculator is saying a 4 but what do you guys think
