I'm a sophomore, and I'm starting to sign up for my AP courses for next year, and I was wondering if it's better to take AP English Language or AP English Literature. Personally, I'd much rather take AP English Lit, but I have two more years left of high school, so, technically, I could take them both.

If I could only take one, which one is better?
Which one looks more impressive at the top of my college application?
Which one is harder?

At my school, juniors take Lang and seniors take Lit. Lang may be more valuable because you learn a lot about writing essays and composition (afterall, the name of the course is English Language and Composition), which will be invaluable for the rest of your life. Lit I guess focuses more on literature and a lot of reading, which is probably helpful if that’s what you’re going to focus on in college.

As for which one is “better” or more impressive, I’m not sure. Personally, I’m going to be taking both. I don’t really want to take Lit and the only way to avoid it is to take English 1101 at a local community college next Summer (after my junior year).
