How should I study for this? I'm wasn't really planning on studying for this, but I've heard that this test is really hard...

First and foremost, A.P english is a test of analytical skills.

You must learn about literary/poetic devices and techniques. Also learn about the different types of stylistic writing (use of 3rd or 1st person p.o.v) and poetry(like intertwined rhyme scheme). Learning the above (which takes about 3hrs on Wikipedia) combined with good writing technique= a score of 4/5.

Also remember that tone is very important and the audience to which the author is directing the passage to (such as if this is a diary entry, or has cinematic qualities) is also very important.

Put simply, you must learn the art of Bull-$hit (i.e. imagine you are your english teacher and you are analyzing the text. Write what he/she would write not what you would generally write--unless you're a naturally amazing writer)

Good Luck

actually, it isnt that hard.
you dont really NEED to study.

but if you suck at speeding through MC, then i suggest you run through a few.
and learn your current events/recommended books for the open question (i'm not sure if we still have one..)

and get good at recognizing satire.. cuz if thats one of the prompts and you dont see it.. say hi to screwed-dom.
you dont really need poetic devices.. thats ap lit not lang. lol but yeah. learn your rhetorical/literary devices, stuff like.. ephiphany and euphemism and hyperbole! yay! =|

and learn how to integrate quotes and how to write well (stylistically speaking)

and definately , BS. thats the most important skill, i think.

.. gluck! :D

haha, well stated. if it's one thing i've learned this past year in AP English, it's how to BS when i have no clue and make myself sound smarter through eloquent fluff ^^.
