AP Environmental Science TEST TOMORROW!

I used the Princeton Review book.
It was horrible! Nothing in that book was on the test.. except for a few definitions. The MC section seems a lot more.. abstract than the review book. Abstract isn't the right word but I don't know what would fit.
The review book didn't help. I read all of it. I feel like I wasted so much time... I still thought it was easy but that's becuase it was all common sense type stuff.
but I still wish teh review book helped!!!

This test was common sense type stuff... you just needed to have an understanding of some scientific terms that's all... anyone could've BS'd the free response :o

I quoted president Bush when discussing the higher levels of CO2 and how the trend data is not truly valid. "We are a nation addicted to oil". I bet the reader will love that :P

I was kinda unsure on how to reduce toxic waste, but I suggested bacteria or using non-polluting methods of obtaining energy. I said a legal way to dispose of waste is to obtain a federal permit to bury toxic materials in specific areas (aka. nuclear waste in the Rocky Mountains)

the review guides are ok, but I would advise further study if you want a 5. PR is not very good, it explains some of the concepts more in depth than smartypants but other than that it is missing a lot of key vocab that smartypants has. Both books were still missing key vocab and the concept overviews were not very good. I would suggest buying a text or so some kind of outside study. A 5 is easy if you start studying a few weeks ahead of time, unfortunately I had about 1.5 to 2 nights... I still think I got a 3 or a 4 though, we will see.

sanguine99- they are grading according to a list (like bio or chem) so they don't really pay attention to outside 'fluff.' (like english or history essays) But I'm sure that'll leave a good impression on them..!

I said the same thing or "entombing" (right word?) the wastes like one would do at Yucca mountains in Nevada (nuclear wastes) I said to reduce wastes, one could put lime scrubbers in their smoke stacks... (i was referring to waste products from burning fossil fuel or something though) I was sleepy and tired and i kept on mixing industrial waste with nuclear plant wastes.. but some of those factors can be interchangeable so it worked out.

The FRQ's were much easier compared to previous years... I would've freaked out if i saw the one that i saw before... It had a diagram of a nuclear power plant and had labels.. It wanted you to describe and name 3 of them.. <- that i wouldn't be prepared for.

yeah...the first free response was very easy. I believe I selected a grid-connected system and government tax credits government subsidation of green businesses and homes

Does anyone remember what they got for the ratio in that stupid FR question with the CO2? I got 80:9 and like a 22 degree temperature increase over the 100 years. But everyone I talked to had completely different answers, so I'm not sure.

zucky everyone got different numbers because the points on the graph were not exact, so im sure everyone interpreted it differently.

Oh right... that makes sense lol. I can't believe that didn't occur to me

I think i put it increases 2 degrees for every 20 ppm or something weird like that...

It was a 1:9, degree to ppm CO2 ratio. Thus the 200ppm change would have led to a change 22.2 change in global temperature. Answers couldn't have varied that much, maybe 1:8 or 1:10 but nothing more or else that would have been a misinterpretation of the graph data.

That test was ridiculous.

Yes, so i was close since i put 20/2 which equals around 10:1...

I put 8:1... I agree that is wasn't that bad. We will have to wait and see.

^ same here :)

Is there a certain format for writing the free respone. I wrote a paragraph or two for each letter of each question (a,b,c,d). I seperated each of these by one line. Will i get marked down for this even though it was in paragraph form?

^ No i don't think so. Long as its in a paragraph form, i dont think they'll mark you down for it. Long as its not in a "outline" form... I'm guessing you really talked about your topics instead of just merely stating them in uncomplete sentences or something.

yea, it was paragraphs, i just didnt do an intro or conclusion for each question. I just responded for each letter seperatley with a line left blank in between each answer.

To the continued paragraph question; yes it's fine to do it by a), b), ect, especially on ones that require math as it would be non-sensical to do it in essay for as long as it was one or two coherent paragraphs per letter.

However if it was one like the essay about solar energy, it's recommended to do it continuously, but they don't really care (so sayeth old AP graders I know).

It doesn't need intro or conclusion... They grade on a rubric so they just check off for whatever you have on your paper...
