AP ES or AP Chem or AP phycics

I will be a sophomore next year and want to take one of the above next year, I have not taken chem before. What do you guys think I should do?

  1. Talk to your science teacher and get his/her recommendation.
  2. Talk to your guidance counselor and get his/her recommendation.
  3. Understand that you want to take a sequence of bio, chem, and physics while you are in HS. They don't have to be on the AP level.
  4. Understand what your HS will allow you to take. Our HS does not let students to take AP Chem, AP Physics, or AP Bio until the student completes the honors level of the class and does well.
  5. I would not consider taking APES until you complete a sequence of bio, chem, and physics.

Some high school AP science classes are a “double block”. In ours they are 1.5 periods long. Check how your high school does it, and factor that in when making your schedule. Don’t neglect the five core subjects.

What science classes have you taken so far? If you’ve not taken chemistry honors that’s what I’d take.

I would be taking this as my core science, and my school does not require me to take the regular versions beforehand, I want one of these 3 aps for next year, not a regular class

Physics 1 or Physics C?

AP Chem without a first year course would be quite abnormal and probably quite challenging.

I would agree that you shouldn’t take ES until you’ve covered all three core sciences, with at least one AP (C for Physics, not 1 or 2).
