Course selection for my senior year is coming up. I know it's early, but it is what it is. I know pretty much my entire schedule except for what history class to take. Currently, I take AP World. Next year, should I take AP Euro or AP US? Both interest me about the same amount. Do colleges prefer one or the other? Which one is traditionally harder?

At my school AP US has always been seen as a harder AP while AP Euro has been seen as an easier one. However on this forum I’ve seen the same sentiment expressed. I haven’t taken Euro so I can’t really speak from experience though.

Colleges Ds applied to specifically required US history. Both are equal as far as AP credit. Sadly, some schools only take AP world as elective or interdiscipline course but not as history credit. Look at sampling of schools you are considering.

If you could, take both. If not, take AP Euro. Just my opinion though.

I don’t know about colleges, but I took AP US last year as a junior and I’m taking AP Euro right now as a senior. It might just be a perspective thing, but for me, AP Euro has been harder because the info is just so much more spread out. Instead of one relatively familiar country, it’s ALL of Europe. Also, instead of a short time period of like 300 years, AP Euro spans like 500. There’s also SO many wars in AP Euro and like I said, with SO many countries. This might just be my own personal issue though…I don’t know. I miss AP US.

Depends on your school. Personally, take the one that interests you the most! If you’re taking AP US GOV though, take US with it. So useful together.

I assume US is better for colleges, but Euro is definitely harder.

At my school euro is a sophomore course, and easier than the junior class APUSH.

APUSH is way easy because it just so familiar if you went middle school in the us
