AP US or Euro?

I am a sophomore in high school right now, and we are already starting to talk to our counselors about course selection for next year. I am currently in AP World History and am finishing the first semester with an A. Junior year, students at my school usually take US History. However, my counselor told me that she could give me the option AP European History (an elective at my school) or AP US History. At my school, both are known to be about the same level of difficulty and work, but I think Euro is supposed to be a little bit harder. I am interested in both pretty equally as well. One thing that has me leaning towards APUSH is that one friend brought up that he thinks US History is the most important history to colleges, and not having it will look bad. However, I don’t really know if this is the case. So basically, I was just wondering which one you guys would recommend, or if it really matters? Senior year, I guess I could take whichever I don’t take next year, but I am not sure yet.

I would take the easier AP History for junior year because the letter grades and AP score would go on your college apps. However, for your senior year AP, only the fall semester grade would be reported (unless you apply ED or EA) and not the AP score.

Isn’t US History a required course? Why not take APUSH and get that requirement out of the way? In addition, taking the SAT II USH right after the AP test is a wise choice in my opinion.

Pick the class you’ll do better in for junior year then take the other as a senior.

U.S. history is a nationwide requirement, so I would take it next year. Most juniors at my school take APUSH and then Euro their senior year if they’re interested.

US history is required to graduate high school in the US. So either you take it junior year, or senior year.

Take U.S. I’m in Euro right now and its probably the biggest mistake of my life lol

Euro is SO fun. You get to learn about stuff that you probably wouldnt touch on in other classes. Plus it looks better because US is regarded as pretty easy and is the most taken AP

I’d probably suggest APUSH unless you have an interest in Euro. At some colleges, AP credit from APUSH counts as history credit, while AP credit from AP Euro only counts as elective credit. And U.S. History is usually a graduation requirement.

I’m in Euro right now and even though I initially didn’t like it— honestly, I hated it— I actually like it now. We’ve finally gotten up to the 18th/19th centuries, which I find much more interesting than the previous ones.

I guess what I’m saying is, APUSH might be more practical but if you want to take Euro, I think you should take Euro.
