APUSH or AP Euro History?

I need to choose my classes for my junior year soon... and I need to pick between APUSH or AP European History. (I cant take both) soooooooooo. which one would you recommend? which one was more interesting? Which one was harder?

I like Euro History. But you should also consider which SAT2's you're gonna take. USH has one while Euro doesn't.

Euro....USH is way too detail-oriented and difficult to study for. But, I haven't taken the AP exams yet so I don't know which test is harder. (cuz I'm taking both of them right now :) fun, right...) but also because our euro teacher is better and gives less work. plus, i have the background of ap world, which ties in with euro a lot better.

I disagree. I took Euro last year and got a 5; this year I am taking US history. I LOVE US history; it is SO much easier. For one, you already know a lot about US history. Also, you focus on one nation and keep everything together, instead of trying to juggle the big picture of what's going on in England and France and Russia and blah blah... The details of US history are not that bad; we read American Pageant (as do most schools), and even if you just read it lightly you should be fine. I took the 2006 AP multiple choice section a week ago for practice for finals; we are a bit over two thirds done with the textbook, and luckily indeed I was able to answer about 55 of the 80 questions. The details just come to you; I got 53/55 correct.

thanks for the replies :)

i thought there was SAT II for european history.
but i guess not..
then maybe i should take US history??
im not sure still... -o-

Yes, there is no SAT II for euro, so if you're in need of a humanities SAT II, you'd probably be better off with US. Also, US seems to be a more difficult class (many peoples' first AP is euro, plus your writing skills are expected to be better in US). Colleges would look more favorably on that.

i'm rather partial to APUSH...

i took APEC last year. got a 5. i'm taking APUSH right now and have an A. APEC is a lot easier because the topics are so broad that you aren't expected to know nitpicky details like every president's stance on banks. APUSH is my fave class right now, but i also have a stupendous teacher; that can def. influence your class experience and barely anybody has A's because his tests are brutal. Still its an overwhelmingly popular class. Also, as it overlaps with SATII, that can also influence your decision. Just be prepared to memorize A LOT more than APEC.

btw, another factor is the DBQ. for APEC, you get a random obscure topic ( i think i got sports or something really random) and you're supposed to anylze that.

however, for APUSH, you get topics on historical trends/events you've studied, therefore you're expected to put a lot of ADDITIONAL outside information in your DBQ. there are also less essay choices for the FRQ section.

hope this helps.

APUSH! euro is boring. plus you'll already be prepared for the SAT subject test.
