I was considering self-studying a course that our school has only offered once in the past. The former teacher of the course said that she did not care for teaching it. I, however think it sounds quite interesting. I was wondering if you all could recommend a textbook (not a preparation book) that covers the material and is priced fairly cheaply.
My son, who took this course last year, says he thought his textbook was a wonderful resource, though meeting the criteria for ‘priced fairly cheaply,’ is going to depend on what you consider cheap. Look around for copies of this book, as I believe I purchased it for about $23.00. (I have since sold it.)
The Western Heritage: since 1300 AP, Eleventh Addition
Ozment, Turner, Kagan
Thanks for the reply. I would consider $23.00 fairly cheap, but the majority of copies seem to go over $80.00 on Amazon. I’ll check in the meantime on other book selling websites, or wait until May when people start selling copies. Thanks
Yes, the $23.00 was someone just wanting to let it go. I sold it for about the same, plus shipping, to keep the spirit of that first transaction moving forward.
Your strategy of waiting until May when the prices go down is a solid one. Good luck to you.
Ozment, Turner, and Kagan is a good textbook. Remember using it for introductory Western History classes in college. It was way better than my son’s AP Euro textbook (which I can’t remember).
