I know NYU accepts 4's and 5's on AP exams.
How many credits would I get for 8 acceptable AP exam scores?
The website didn't say specifically, does anyone know?

Might not apply for CAS, but this is the best I could do:

NYU > CAS > Bulletin > Admission

towards the bottom is what you want

I honestly don't wish to hijack this thread, but someone here might know an answer: Stern says it will give me 10 natural science credits for my 5 on the AP Physics B exam. Is this enough to get out of the required natural science courses in the liberal arts core?

feel free to hijack my thread :)
thanks for the replies, guys.

I think I will email NYU and ask them directly, because that's the CAS thing and I'm in GSP so it may be different. Also, that site didn't even mention AP Italian, but it had german, spanish, french and latin...so I'll go check. Thanks again

Wow, thanks sue. :)

Stern, not sure if this answers your question

or try here

two words: google it. or you can call....

sylenteck0, do you mind me asking what HS you are graduating from. My son went to Central HS (and is at CAS now)

Ah, Central. I was planning on going there, but I moved out to live out in the burbs :)

Well, I don't really want to identify my school (just in case :P)

but I live right out in the northern burbs :)

oh, I saw Philadelphia, PA and thought you were a city kid.

Haha, it's just easier to associate yourself with the nearby city :) (Well, then again, most of us are commuters anyway :P )

If you want some kind of reference point, I received 8 credits for a 4 on the AP Bio test. That got me out of Natural Science I & II. I never have to take science at NYU. Boo yah.

ohhhradio-

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!

THIS JUST MADE MY DAY!

(I hope it's like that with stern? if not, don't ruin my moment... just yet.)

Teampakistan, I'm in CAS, so I'm not quite sure about Stern. I'm assuming that Stern does the whole MAP program though, because Natural Science I & II are part of the MAP requirement.

I tried to see on the stern website if it does follow the morse academic plan, but it was confusing as hell. I went to the MAP website and this is all I found:

(this was in the description)
The Morse Academic Plan (MAP) of the College of Arts and Science is an integrated general education curriculum in the liberal arts. Students and faculty from the Steinhardt School of Education, Stern School of Business, Tisch School of the Arts and some other programs also participate in the MAP. In addition to the academic foundation it provides for students' future studies, the MAP defines the common experience of undergraduates across these different divisions of New York University.

It mentions stern...? You will definitely find out soon enough what kind of credit your APs will give you though.

Stern credits, a little old but probably still the same: http://w4.stern.nyu.edu/emplibrary/ACFVh8dfw.pdf

do they give credit for a levels?

(sorry for hijacking!!)

yes I think they do, I saw something about A levels on their site when I went to see if they have ap credit. you can probably find it on their site or email them.

Hmm.. I'm in GSP as well.. but my school offers IB instead of AP.. I heard some instances where ppl get out of GSP a year earlier with their AP Credits.. Does anyone know how much AP Credits are needed to finish GSP in a year? (It'd be much more helpful if explained in IB)

xnumba08 - AP/IB credits won't get you out of the core gsp requirements. There are certain classes you absolutely have to take. I'll have 8 AP credits, and I can technically finish nyu in 3 years instead of 4 like that. But when I emailed admissions, they said I can get out of gsp only a semester early, not a year (although I have enough credidts for a year). This is b/c you just have to take the core requirements in gsp, regardless of IB or AP.

I've heard of kids who do GSP for a year and then go to tisch, but I think if you're going to CAS, you can only leave a semester early. But you can still use your AP/IB credits toward graduation.
