which one would have more weight on college admissions (like HYPS)?
would it be "better" to have an A and a 2 on the exam or a C and a 5 on the exam?
which one would colleges put more weight on Exam Grades of Class Grades?

An A and a 4/5 on the exam.

the answer is both ..

I got a 3 on the AP world history test, and my 2 semester grade for it was an 88

The BEST thing is an A in the class. Your transcript is the most important thing, your AP grades are considered after that.

Ideally it would be best to do well on both. However, I think an "A" in the class is better because the fact that you took the initiative to even take an AP course looks good to colleges. Unfortunately, your grade in the class and your AP exam grade are not always correlated. I had the second highest grade in my AP Euro class, but I received a 3 on the exam.

^^ Same lol. My Euro class was a joke so it was an easy A but I ended up with a 3

is euro universally a joke or something? i'm taking it now and it's literally the least work-intensive class i've ever taken. the teacher just gossips about historical figures. we all bomb the practice tests and get thirty point curves.

I got a C in AP chem and got a 5. How pathetic is that?

^^ That's messed up. Clearly if you got a 5, you deserve an A in the class. Aren't AP classes supposed to be taught toward the test? If you aced the test, how is it logical or moral for a teacher to give you anything lower than an A? (Some teachers I know give automatic A's if you get a 5 on the AP test)

They give you A's months after the school year is over? That would be awesome for me and help my GPA, good on you.

My friend got a D- in AP Chem and got a 5 on the exam. This was almost newsworthy! Brilliant kid, for sure, but didn't really feel like doing anything in class (like, uh, skipping tests and not making them up) because he knew all the material.

Yeah, the teacher just tells the counselor or whoever to change the grade on our transcripts when the AP scores are released for whoever got 5's. Obviously this wouldn't matter for seniors.

The grade in the class is not necessarily always an indicator of how much you learned. If they were, participation grades and homework grades based on completion wouldn't exist.

Our school guarantees a B for any student who made a 5 on the AP exam. But what you do for 18 weeks is more important than the result of one exam on one particular day.

And not all AP classes focus exclusively on preparing for the AP exam. Teaching to any test -- even a good test -- isn't always good education. When there are teachable moments that expand past the basic AP curriculum, it's important to take advantage of them.

I don't think it is good to have a high grade for the course and a low AP score. That's why I am so worried about APUSH. I have an A but we are behind. Teacher shows films and gives easy tests.

AP Chem - 91.. which is ******** because she gave us a project 4th quarter that she said wasn't going to be graded, so i didn't try too hard on it and wound up with an 83 that she counted as our final. WACK

oh and a 5.

AP Stats - 94/4
AP Eng - 90/4

4 on AP Euro
86-88-87-95 like 91 year.

Wow. I'm in Euro and it's like not a joke. >.< We have to do so much crap in that class. And If we just get credit then we get an Automatic A in the class.

It'd be better to have an A or B and a 4/5 on the exam..

arachnotron is that story actually true?
