Grade in AP courses vs. AP test results

What do colleges give more weight to - the grade you receive in AP courses, or the result of your AP test from said course?

I am mostly an A student, with a few B's scattered here and there, but I got my first C in AP Calc BC as a junior this year. My test scores are pretty good:

PSAT 226
SAT 2220 - 740 Reading, 800 Math, 690 Writing
SAT II Math IIC 800

My grades, however, are less than stellar. I am 5% weighted/10% unweighted in a school of about 2,700. Will good grades on the AP exams make up for poor class grades?

The exam score, in my experience.

I think that a good exam score will pull up a bad grade and that a bad exam score will not necessarily set off a good grade. Some schools just don't prepare their kids very well.

Ugh, my freshman year.. AP Human Geo! I didn't know anything about AP tests or anything like that, just picked out the class. I didn't hear about study guides till the day of the test, and all my classmates were just as confused as me.. the teacher was horrible, he didnt give us ANY practice at all for the test and just made us copy power point notes all year.. the class itself was easy, I made a 99. But I had a rude awakening when I took the AP test, and somehow made a 3. Obviously colleges won't know that my teacher sucked, so I'm stuck with the 3. Oh well, at least I know what I'm doing this year.

They let you take AP's in freshman year? That's kinda weird, I mean AP's are supposed to be college-level courses, and they allow you to take them in your first year of high school... The only course that they allow you to take at our school so early is AP World History, and in sophomore year.

Eh, I took my first AP in 8th grade, and two more by 10th (9th graders are taking an AP now as well, but weren't when I was there). It depends on the school.

Obviously, it's best to have good grades and test results. But I think good grades and bad test scores looks worse than bad grades and good scores, because it casts doubts onto how tough your curriculum is actually.

Yeah I guess its kinda weird, Im taking 3 APs this year as a soph, so..hmm
