AP exams

Are you going to take all your AP exams? I was going to take all of mine until I realized that Princeton doesn't give credit for AP government. So then I decided I'd just take my remaining 4 APs. BUT I just found out that the student who got into Princeton last year from my school didn't take any AP exams because she wanted to retake the classes at Princeton (she thought those classes would be better- more interesting with better teachers etc...). And now I've been seeing those AP booklet things around school so I guess I'll have to decide pretty soon.

so what do you think? take them all? just take the ones that relate to your major? don't take any? (wow that would make the end of this school year so relaxing haha)

I was thinking the exact same thing as you. I'm taking 5 AP courses this year, but the only test that could possibly benefit me in terms of credit (either because Princeton doesn't grant credit for it or because I've earned it in some other way) is Calculus, so ideally I would only take that. However, I remember on the application that we had to put down what AP exams we planned to take, and of course I put down all five. I hope this doesn't mean that I am bound to take them all. I would ask them, but I don't know where admitted students are supposed to direct their questions.

If we are allowed to, I won't take any superfluous AP exams, for the sole reason that I don't want to waste any more money on the horrible monstrosity that is CollegeBoard.

im going to take them all.

does that mean im going to study for them all? I don't think so.

haha yeah.. that was one of my options: to take them all but not stress about them. but then i realized that if i spent all that money on the exams, i would feel bad not studying for them.

if youre unsure, take them all and decide later. that's what im doing. i dont even think i would like to graduate in 3 years or anything though...

yeah i guess that is the way to go, unless you care about paying $80 (or whatever it is) per exam. i would feel kind of guilty if i took the exams and then decided not to use the credit (or just didn't get a high enough score to qualify for credit).

Is anybody seriously considering advanced standing? I'm thinking taking their intro classes would be really beneficial. Oh ya, I was looking at the table and I'm not sure if I'm reading it right, but are the histories non-applicable?

the histories are na, but they do give you ap units, thus allowing you to qualify for advanced standing. thats all i got out of it. hmm i wonder if i should take their intro classes... and even if they arent useful, wouldnt it be good to just chill/relax the first semester?

Well, don't employers consider the workload that you took? I still want to take the intro classes though, since my high school is not particularly good at preparing students for college level material...
