I plan on taking the AP French test in the future. Right now I would say I am doing all that I can to better myself in said language. What sorts of grammar concepts will I have to know to get a "5" on the test? How proficient should I be in writing and speaking in the language?

it’s hard to qualify the types of grammar you will “have” to know to be able to get a 5. I got a 4 on my test, which I’m okay with. I was nowhere near proficient at grammar, and my teacher honestly didn’t prepare me that well for it.

Also I totally screwed up the speaking becuase I got nervous, and it probably sounded like I didn’t speak french at all.

So basically, as long as you can speak with good proficiency and write at a pretty good level, and especially if you have a good command of grammar like what forms to use in what tense, and you practice hard in class (which it sounds like you’re doing) you should do fine :)
