AP French?

Did anyone take this class and/or test? I'm thinking about doing it self study (my school doesn't have AP languages) for next year. How hard is it? I have only had through French III but I am pretty good at it. I would study on my own, learn more stuff, and also take French IV this fall to get prepared in the absence of an AP class. Please tell me if that is stupid, lol... I looked at some multiple choice q's on the college board website and they looked easy enough (but the format was weird because I think you actually have to listen to the MC questions and pick an answer instead of reading them??)
I would love to get any input on how hard it is, what you need to know, etc. I'll probably look at a test prep book and see but it would be really good to get the perspective of someone who has actually taken the test before I decide what to do.
Thanks

I don't think it's a good idea to self study for any AP language exams unless it's your native language or something like that. There's a speaking section on the exam and it's hard to practice that by yourself. I'm not saying that you can't do it....but it would be difficult to get a 4 or 5. I know some native speakers who only got 4's on the AP french exam. I took it myself Jr. year...and I got a 5...but I used to live in Canada.
BUT...if you are really determined to try this yourself...I recommend the Barron's AP French Review book. Get the one that comes with the tapes for the listening section. If you study hard w/ some help from french teachers at your school....you may have a shot. Oh yeah...watch lots of movies in French. Before I took mine...I rented a lot of my favorite DVD's...and used the French language option and watched them in French. It's a fun way to learn. ;)

oooh thanks for being brutally honest. It's better to know now I guess than waste my time and fail. I might just get a barron's and see how I do on the practice exams though, then figure out if it's worth trying. Yeah I like watching dvds in French too... My family is just like, you're such a nerd... lol

Oh yeah, and did you study by yourself or take a class? thanks

I took a class. =) Good Luck!

i was considering just taking the test because french is my second language learned from kindergarden till last year, i am not sure though maybe next year.

I'm thinking you'd get a low/mid 4.

That's really good.
