***AP German 2014-2015***

anyone in ap german this year? it doesn't seem very common on cc, but im curious!

If anybody wanted to know, the exam yesterday wasn’t very tough. The only thing that got me was timing on the first MC section, but the prompts on FRQ were fairly straightforward. This is coming from a self-study IB HL German Yr.1 student.

The prompts seemed to jump around a lot in terms of topic - it went from a world champion air guitarist to political conflicts very quickly. I would suggest next year’s test takers to review good vocab from a variety of topics, and make sure they practice with released prompts on the AP website. Best of luck!

the free response were very doable this year! the others in my class found the multiple choice impossible, but i think it was okay

I thought the multiple choice was fairly easy. The audios weren’t too bad, passages were pretty straight forward. On some of them I wavered between two of the answer choices because they were very, very similar. FRQ was also fairly easy. I was talking with my class about our predictions for the FRQ and I thought it would be either something about “Bio” food, bicycle riding, or recycling. Lo and behold, it was bike riding (well helmets). The conversational was alright, harder than the free response in my opinion. I forgot to say a closing remark, oh well. Cultural comparison was very easy. I actually ran out of time on that.

For test takers next year, I would definitely suggest keeping up with trends/sensations in Germany, for example vegetarian/vegan lifestyle, “natural” foods, popular controversies, etc. READ as much as you can, and definitely listen to podcasts, because that’s what the audio MC is. I like hr iNFO’s various podcasts, such as Fit and Gesund, Kulturlust, and “Das Interview”.
