I got a 3 on APHG my freshman year and its the easiest test too! But i just got nervous on test day. Do you think its worth retaking to get a 5? Or should i just not worry about it?

It kinda depends on what college you want to go to, if its an ivy league college, definetly retake it, or if the 3 doesn’t get you credit for the colleges that you want to be going. It is still considered passing, so congrats!

Yes, a three is considered passing, but it will most likely not get you any credit at any respectable university.

You might get elective credits, which is still awesome. :)

I got a 2 on the AP Human test. I looked up the criteria for AP Human test on several ivy league sites. Most of them dont even except AP Human as a class. So, i wouldnt worry about retaking it. I was very upset aout my score but i see why i got what i got. I didnt study. I had a 98 in the class the whole entire year, ut throughout the year i didnt do very good on the unit tests and its mostly because im not a very effective studier.

Don’t. AP Human is just a 9th grade AP designed to weed out the people that belong in AP from the ones that don’t.

(that sounded horribly elitist, but it’s true)

^ Yeah and it looks like it weeded out this kid. If you can’t 4 or 5 APHG, especially if you took the class, you’re going to have a hard time with other APs - well, social science ones at least.

He got a 3, that’s hardly failing! (especially for freshmen) Do not retake it, Human Geo is a pretty useless AP credit wise. Your AP score won’t hold you back in admissions (again, it’s still passing!)

As long as it’s enough to get you credit at the college you go to, there isn’t really a point in re-taking it.

Practically, probably won’t matter too much as long as it was a choke and you can make it up with future History APs. As a matter of pride though, I would retake that and own it with a 5.

^ You would waste 87$ for pride?

Yes, of course. ^

Hardly any college takes AP credit from Human Geography, even 5s.

To the people that keep complaining that it isn’t accepted; there are several mid-to-better schools that accept Human Geography. I’m not sure of the posters college intentions, but having potential AP credit on hand is never a bad thing. William & Mary, UNC Chapel Hill, UCLA and Rutgers all accept 4 and 5’s on Human Geography. Perhaps not at the Ivy League’s, but regardless, it’s potential to gain credit in good schools.

University of Michigan takes 4s or 5s, Northwestern takes 5s, USC takes 4s or 5s, Duke takes 4s or 5s, Wisconsin takes 3s, 4s, or 5s, UCLA takes 3s, 4s, or 5s, UC Berkeley takes 3s, 4s, or 5s. There are many more, but many of the CCers are misinformed or they are just making uneducated guesses as to what schools accept HG for credit. Unless you are going Ivy or Stanford (9 schools), you will probably get credit. It is astounding as to how many times I’ve seen a thread asking if taking HG is worth it, and I ALWAYS see an answer saying that barely any colleges take it. As you can see, the people who say that are very ill-informed.

For example:

“Hardly any college takes AP credit from Human Geography, even 5s.”

Thank you statlanta. I know University of Texas @ Austin takes credit for 4’s and 5’s on it as well. The vast majority of schools will give credit for Human Geography.

Colleges that don’t take APHG:

Johns Hopkins
WUSTL
Rice
Vanderbilt
Notre Dame
Emory (College of Arts and Sciences)
Georgetown
UVA
Tufts
NYU
Brandeis
Georgia Tech

Yeah, I can name a bunch of random colleges to help my case too.

Damn, wasn’t expecting that. I mean, NYU & Co., that is very impressive. Congratulations.

By the way, you originally said that barely any colleges take HG as credit, which was a joke in itself. You posting that list of 12 colleges REALLY shows that BARELY ANY colleges accept it. Way to do your research.

i got a 4 on my AP Human Geo exam and i had a B in class. I hardly studied. Not to mention, I’m pretty sure a couple of Ivy schools and other top notch colleges accept APHG. You gotta get some credit

Safe to say that if you have a group of schools in mind, check em out.
If you’re good in social studies, I say go for it. $87 is the cheapest college credit you’ll ever get, and it looks good as another 4 or 5 in a long list anyways.

If you don’t care about it, then divert your resources to something more time consuming to get a good score there.

Not necessarily true.

My kid got a 2 on it.

He has since gotten four 5’s, two 4’s, and two 3’s.
