AP Human Geography!

Who took this today? I thought that the essays were mucho easy, but there were some tricky multiple choice questions. Anyone wanna discuss them?

Also, how well do you have to do on the multiple choice (assuming you got 90-100% on the essays) to get a four or a five?

i did bad on all parts of it. I'll be lucky if I get a 3. I'm thinking of canceling it

To get a 5, you need a raw score of 70 out of 120. It's the most generous curve ever...

Serious!? That is extremely generous...

I took the test w/o much prep, and kinda of freaked out at the first essay question. But after a while I analyzed it and got it right. :)

But I dunno, the multiple choice... I kinda fell asleep for five minutes during it. But if the curve is that generous, there may be hope for me to get a 5. gulp

MzLover3, you must be thinking of another test. the geography exam only has 75 questions

Yeah, the essay was easy, but some of the multiple choice were way too specific (at least for me), and I ended up leaving about 10 blank.

My teacher had us practice on the 2001 released test, this is the scoring worksheet::

MC: (# correct - .25*#wrong) * 0.8108 = Section I score, do not round

FR:

Question 1: (your score/out of 12 * 1.6667) = do not round
Question 2: (your score/out of 9 * 2.2222) = do not round
Question 3: (your score/out of 12 * 1.6667) = do not round

Add the four numbers and round to the nearest whole number.

70-120 = 5 (539 students in 2001)
58-69 = 4 (654 students in 2001)
45-57 = 3 (829 students in 2001)
35-44 = 2 (530 students in 2001)
0-34 = 1 (679 students in 2001)

Can't be that much different than that. I speculate that the generous curve is determined by the absurdly low number of students taking this (3,231 in 2001) and apparently it's insanely hard because I went ahead and calculated that in 2001, the average total percent correct on the entire MC was 58%. Somehow, I'd expect better from such a small number of test takers which I'd figure would be at the top of their game and know everything there is to know about geography, since it's considered by so many to be a "fluff" subject.

Are you kidding me?! YES, I can make a 5, haha. Better not get too cocky though.

I self studied this course and I thought I aced the mc and the last two essays but I totally bombed the first essay(got the terms wrong). Could I still get a 4 or a 5 assuming I got a near perfect score on the other two essays and the mc?

Yes, plug it into the formula I provided you with

That was one of the first years the test was administered, im sure the curve was tougher this year.
