AP Lang & Comp -- first and only AP for the year.

... and I am PANICING. lol.

So far, all I've been taking since middle school are advanced math classes, so those are like normal classes to me now. However, in two days, I'll jump straight into AP Lang & Comp w/o having taken any prior advanced English classes.

My previous Eng. teacher gave me this whole summer to think about this decision haha. He recommended me to the AP teachers and they say that it'll definitely be a challenging class for me... so he doesn't exactly think I should take it (though in the end, it's my decision). He thinks that I should stick to excelling in my normal classes.

I really really want to take the class though. I'd like to see what AP classes are like before I take multiples of them during senior year! O_O I'm also looking forward to be challenged... but I'm not sure if I can handle it lol.

Right now I'm having these weird thoughts of my teacher being real strict and my classmates having all these intellectual discussions while I'm just sitting there feeling way behind.

I haven't been exposed to many super smart people as you can see, lol.

I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on the difficulty of this class. Is anyone here a bad writer like me? I mean, I get A's on my English essays, but my writing didn't impress the AP teachers... haha.

I am worrying way to much about this, I'll listen to what everyone has to say. I'm pretty desperate about getting rid of these uneasy thoughts I'm getting 24/7. D:

(I'm a Junior btw)

Take it. AP English classes are the easiest at my school. Honestly, most high schoolers can’t and won’t write anything of any real profound value in an English essay. The sad truth is that it is just follow the five paragraph rule and support stuff. Worse case senario is you do bad. So what? No one will care or remember.

I had never taken an AP class before and I took AP Lang and got a 5, i think it is one of the easiest ones.

It is one of the easiest APs in the sense that you don’t have to really study for it, like you would for a history or a science. The trick is to take many practice multiple choice questions and practice writing a lot of essays. This way you are familiar with the format and will do well on the exam. That is all there is to it, there isn’t all this factual information and formula business like in other APs.

E-A-S-Y.

Don’t sweat it.

Not a big deal. I’m taking it right now and it isn’t hard.

I do despise the material though. The idea that a ‘voice’ can be manufactured with ridiculous little worksheets is absurd.

Thanks everyone. I’m hearing much different responses compared to those from some of my classmates… This senior apparently had a difficult time with this class too as her first AP. :/

I feel much better now haha. I hope to get an A in the class, and in Trig Pre-calc… o_o
