AP Language and Comp :(

I HATE IT. High school ruined the fun of English class. I sincerely wish I hadn't been stupid enough to sign up for AP because I am finding myself skipping that period everyday, feel free to judge. The class is uninteresting, I can't write a decent essay to save my life, and I don't want to analyze literary devices. I am thinking about switching out into regular English but I kind of do want to be able to write better essays for SAT, college, scholarships etc. But I sincerely HATE the class with a passion. I feel that if I am able construct coherent sentences to communicate and am able to read the English language, it should not be a required class all 4 years of high school, but I digress.

What are your opinions on this class and the pros/cons of switching out?

I love English so I was kind of more enthusiastic about the class. but that’s just me.

If you hate it that much, and have a better class you could probably switch to, go for it. Are you more of a science/math-oriented person?

If you want to be able to write better essays, and not go through the work of AP Eng, talk with your current or past HS English teachers and see if they would be willing to look at your essays and critique it or have them give you prompts and you write about them. Build up a decent vocab in your spare time too, they will help the sophistication of your essays a lot.

It sucks…just deal with it.
