I took the AP Language and Comp test and just saw my score. I got a 2 and I don’t know how, I felt like I understood the Multiple choice quite well but when it go to the essays I felt confident on them, I was expecting a high 3 or 4. I am devastated with my outcome and I have seen stories in which people have had success with a restore but I want another opinion on this. I know sometimes cb does mess up by not including the frqs so I’m just hoping that it will help me. I am a straight A student in that class and get 6 and 7’s on my essays and these essays felt just like them, maybe even better, so I am heart broken to find this to be my score after I felt like I did really good. Please no harsh words on my score, just if this scenario makes sense and/or if this score is not a mistake.
Well, I’m in the opposite situation. I guess that varies from who you had as a teacher.
My English teacher was absolutely amazing, but like most great teachers, she was a very harsh grader. In fact, when she scored my practice essays, the average turned out to be 4/9. I was seriously expecting a low 3 or even a 2, but somehow I got a 4.
Perhaps your English teacher was too lenient? Maybe grade inflation? Well, it could be that you were nervous during the test and made a lot of silly mistakes (like I did on my SATs) or a bit too overconfident. I’m presuming that you’re going to take AP English Lit next year, so good luck on that! (Some colleges only take a max number of AP English credits, so don’t sweat it.)
However, if you are absolutely sure that you did a LOT better than a two, then request for a restore; maybe they screwed up?
You should definitely consider getting a rescore. If you feel that you could have gotten at least a 4 but was cut short with a 2, then it’s plausible that College Board made an error on their part. I think the only time that a rescore would be a waste of money is if you managed to get a 4 when you were expecting at least a 5. Even if you DO get the same score after the process, then at least you’ll have nothing to regret or feel bad about. You did your absolute best and shouldn’t feel ashamed of your performance. About what Kelvas said, I highly doubt that grade inflation had anything to do with your overall performance, especially if other classmates with the same intelligence as you scored a 3/4/5.
@Jelang the exact same thing happened to me! I received a 2 on Lang after recieving 4s on World, Macroecon, and microecon(and I felt much more confident about Lang than these tests). I got high 3s/low 4s on my mock exams. I received an A year round and my teacher(who went through AP essay training) gave me 7s and a few 8s on my timed writings. I also received scores in the 30s for English and Reading when taking a practice ACT, so I can’t see how I scored a 2. I am going to ask for a rescore, and I just hope this was a mistake on cb’s part…
@TheTennisNinja I’m right there with you! I hope it was a mistake and I feel like it was a simple test! Girls I know in my class who aren’t very clever and a guy who doesn’t know what we’re doing the majority of the time passed! Ahhh
And I got a 3 on Euro after being really uneasy about that too! The mc wasn’t that hard, I felt like I did super goo the first two sections, then had to rush through the last, but the last was about as easy a passage you could possibly get!
^^^for english!
I truly think cb may have lost some of our essays cause my friend who a year ahead of me and in line for valedictorian also got a 2 while a guy who got 3s on his essays got a 3 on the exam…
Did he send in a rescore?
I think so
If they lost our essays, what do they do?
Base the score on your MC performance.
@skieurope No, I understand that, but what if you issue a re-score?
Same thing; they would just extrapolate based upon the MC score.
@skieurope I find that a tad unfair since it is suppose to be considered “standardized.” My essays are stronger than my multiple choice.
Yep, me too! But who said cb is fair?
Besides, the essays are weighed more heavily than the mc so do we contact cb to know if the essays are lost or what?
If in the unlikely event your essays are lost, it will say so on the score report.
@Jelang I am in the same situation you are in also!!! I got a 2 in AP Human when I knew I would get a 5 or maybe a
a 4. I knew i did very well, and i triple checked everything and i didn’t cram or anything!! I sent a rescore but i also requested for my FRQ booklet. Maybe you should do that if you havent already, but good luck hopefully it isn’t a 2 and it’s a 5!!! (PS: is AP Euro hard? I’m taking it this year)
