Rescoring AP Seminar

Hi everyone,

I got my AP scores back today, and was overall happy, but pretty shocked to see that I had scored a 3 in AP Seminar. Although this was the first year the class was being offered at my school, according to my teachers (who had very recently received training on how to grade all of the components of the test) I was very well on track to receive a 5. I spent a lot of time writing these actual essays, and comparing them to examples given by the college board and analyzing the rubric with fellow classmates, and felt very confident about them. I also thought I did pretty well on the actual testing day part of the exam (which consisted of two essays).
I actually called one of the teachers of the class today after seeing this score (I am pretty close with her), and she was similarly shocked, and told me that she had read my essays that I submitted and agreed that they were of top quality. I understand that usually rescoring is meant for multiple choice, but is it possible that maybe they forgot to score one part of my portfolio submission or lost some of my essays? Is it worth paying the money for the rescore, or should I just accept that I messed up somewhere and move on?

Thanks for the help

How confident are you on the multiple choice parts of the exam? It sounds like you’re very strong in writing but, the rescore would be a waste of time and money if you feel like the writing portion bumped your scores up as, it’s only to look over the multiple choice part. If this is really bothering you, I’d get a rescore just for some closure. Hope this helps!
