Hi everyone. I’m a junior in HS, and I am deciding on whether to take AP Lit next year. I am taking other hard APs like BC Calc and Chem. I also have 2 other APs (gov and Microecon). I’m taking AP Pang right now and I like the class. I got an A in the class last semester. Any advice on which class I should take? I don’t want to make my schedule too rigorous to the point I can’t handle it because I’m in sports, ECs, and of course college apps. Thanks everyone!
As you have been told the last 27 or so times you have asked a variation of the question, it is not an arms race where the one with the most APs wins. 4 APs are more than sufficient for senior year, considering that you have the hidden class in the Fall - College Applications and Essays.
Whether you should take the AP Lit vs Brit Lit as opposed to AP goc H (or CP) Gov (as an example) is a personal preference. While the workload depends, in part, on the teacher, the workload for Calc, Chem, and Lit will likely be heavier that Gov or Micro. Additionally, depending on the college you end up attending, and assuming you score well on the AP Lang exam, you might not get credit for both Lit and Lang.
So, it’s really up to you, assuming that whatever you do will still warrant your GC rating your schedule as “most demanding.” Colleges won;t care either way,and you don’t want to overload yourself.
I’ll further add, that either AP Lit or Brit Lit is a better choice than journalism which you listed on a previous thread. Journalism is fine as an elective, but not as a core English class, regardless of how your HS classifies it. Good luck.
If you are going to major in humanities, take AP Lit.
If you are going to major in STEM, take whatever you want
