Wow! The exam was definitely something. I found the mc section harder than questions practice before hand, but it was manageable. The first FRQ had me in a panic for what to write so needless to say it was short and choppy. I am very confident about my second essay and my third essay was also good. Thank God for Invisble Man.

1984, Winston’s case for the essay purpose was probably pretty unique. :D

My class basically jumped out of their seats for FRQ 3 'cause it was perfect for Crime and Punishment. But I ended up doing the Stranger (CaP is one of my favorite books ever but there is soo much going on in it that I felt uncomfortable writing a 40 minute essay with it haha). But really it was good for a lot, Hamlet, grapes of wrath, etc.

I’m a hardcore science guy, but that MC section was a joke.
Essay was moderate but manageable. Thank god for modern poets and authors!

I hope the curve isn’t too harsh this year.

Can someone PM me the sketchy thing too? I didn’t catch it.

I thought the MC was medium-hard, especially the grief poem and last prose passage.

Totally screwed up on the first FRQ. I had some good ideas but I had the hardest time writing down and constructing them in a coherent fashion. I destroyed the second and third FRQ’s… used The Brothers Karamazov for the third. I thought Alyosha was the perfect character for the prompt.

^Crap, wish I thought of The Brothers Karamazov. I just thought it would be better to go with something we actually read in class since we dissect those.

Yeah, I basically bet everything on there being modern authors and only 1 poem for the first FRQ. Against all odds my best paid off.

I thought the MC was very easy, much easier than any practice test i took. Also I think i’m the only one so far on here who used The Trial. I guess its just not read in class much because it fit the prompt perfectly.

1st-Loved it
2nd- ehh okay… but not as great
3rd- chose Les Mis because it was fresh in my head, not a good idea.
Overall, it was okay.

Joshmay94, I used Invisible Man too. I read the first sentence of the last MC passage because I always do prose first. But then I realized that the last one was just really hard. I’m bad at multiple choice anyways. I rocked the first and third essay. The second one was “eh”…not too good, not too bad. I liked the pony one (and some of the answer choices they had, for the questions) Grief confused me. I liked the “Aristocracy vs. hiding poverty” and the Marius one. Did anyone get a lot of Cs for the last passage?

Ahh that was the one that I failed miserably at, the aristocracy one! When I read it I just half got it, I couldn’t fully understand what was going on. It was really annoying.

I was nervous about FRQ 3 going into the exam, but the moment I saw To Kill a Mockingbird on the list was great! We just finished reading that a couple weeks ago in history.

Multiple Choice- ehh ok. I didn’t like the first or last passages, but I did like the poems
FRQ 1- Pretty Good, we do tons of poems in class so I felt prepared
FRQ 2- Didn’t like this one, so I just kinda made up stuff
FRQ 3- Really good! Ole Atticus Finch was a lifesaver.

Overall, not as hard as I expected.
Hopefully a 4/5, but probably a 3.

1 - Didn’t like it at first, but turned out good
2 - Was ok
3 - Grapes of Wrath. It fit perfectly. Although it was a little rushed, it was pretty good

Not too sure how I feel about this one (pretty sick, barely any sleep from cramming Vergil, Lit’s one of my weaker areas, etc etc.)

MC: I got worried because the first and last passages I had a little trouble with. Ponies one was pretty easy, other two I don’t remember but I guess that means they couldn’t have been too difficult.

Essay 1 (and Essay 2, since they were essentially the same): I think I could have done well but I don’t think I articulated myself well enough. The thoughts were there but the structure of my essay was a mess.

Essay 3: Pretty easy but I didn’t know many books on the list and felt like I should use one from the list (read Invisible Man and Mockingbird sophomore year so I was fuzzy on those, and Crime and Punishment was summer reading so I was fuzzy on that too.) Ended up picking Mockingbird cause I remembered the most from it. I’m worried my essay was vague and a little redundant but I still think it was alright.

3 or 4 maybe -_- Felt like I could have definitely gotten a 5 but it just wasn’t my day.

mbharadwaj12- I think I noticed a pattern of like 3 C’s in a row at one point, I don’t remember what passage it was for though.

And when you used Invisible Man, did you mention how everyone the narrator met had a different idea of justice, but all of them ultimately betrayed him, and that in the end he realizes the only true justice is invisibility/freedom?

I used The Count Of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas for essay # 3. Soooo perfect. It also happens to be my favorite movie so that helped too (:

Only problem with MC was the second passage, the “dead white man” poem. Essays–2nd OK, third good (Beloved), first bad (did it in about 20 minutes, lucky if I get a three on it).

Invisible Man was perfect for the prompt, just didn’t remember it well enough.

And what was the sketchy question response? I didn’t catch it either.

CrzyGmer…yeah I also felt like I should pick one from the list. The only ones that I had read from it were Antigone (which was in 10th grade and I literally have no clue what it was about- I don’t remember), The Merchant of Venice (which we read last year in English so I knew a little about it, but still did not feel comfortable with it because I couldn’t remember specifics), and To Kill a Mockingbird (which like I said earlier we just finished reading so I could remember pretty much everything and it is actually one of my favorite books now). If To Kill a Mockingbird would not have been up there, I probably would have had to struggle through The Merchant of Venice and it probably would not have been half as good (cause I’m one of those people who would just have to pick one they list even though I know we can pick other ones haha).

@ Trav yeah I didn’t read most of the books on the list ol. I already had a book in mind going into it because The Count Of Monte Cristo is applicable to just about anything the prompt was literally p e r f e c t for the book. I also was thinking about doing Frankenstein before hand which would have worked too.

Same with me, I purposely read Invisible Man throughout the week leading up to the exam just so I could use it, as it shows up so frequently.

Count of Monte Cristo, you’re right that is pretty good. I haven’t read that in so long; I might have been able to bs an essay on it but who knows.
