AP Macro or Micro economics

Which AP would be better for ivy colleges Macro or Micro economics ???

honestly once you get one down, it only takes about 2 or 3 weeks of studying to get the other..i would recommend doing both. the hardest part of econ is the terminology

Take them both, they're both half years. Study up and take them both.

Is it easy to self-study for macro? I am hoping to studying it outside of school because I have the class the last nine weeks of school which means that I would only have like 4 weeks of the material before the ap exam. Is there any particular book that I should get.

I hate to do this but...bump

neither one is viewed better than the other

Brief Principles of Macroeconomics by N. Gregory Mankiw.

At our school, even though they're each semester classes, you need to do one to do the other. We're talking about Micro right now. I don't think either is preferred. Isn't this a test where you can do two for the price of one? If that's the case, you have nothing to lose by taking both of them.

at my school, even if there's 2 "parts" to an ap test like the 2 ap economics, you have to take both, it's treated as a full year class

I found it easier to self-study Micro, since there is less emphasis on graphs and more on vocabulary words. I used the Princeton Review book and got a 5 on both exams.

My school only offers macro. Should I buy a book on micro and take that AP test too? Is this easy enough to do if I already know macro?

I self-studied with no knowledge of either one, but knowing macro should help for micro, since there is some overlap in concepts.

these two are just some of the wanna-be APs out there, along with psychology and stats.

I wouldn't say that at all. In fact, the Macro/Micro exams have rather low score distributions. Economics is a class that you can't work to be good at

highly agreed psychology is kind of easy, but VERY INDEPTH AND COOL. Econ is very term-oriented, my brother got a 5 on bc, biology, and physics c, and a 1 on micro!

agreed!! yes

Econ is weird that way. It's a logic based test

But that's the beauty of it--you only need to memorize a few basic terms and rules, and you can reason out almost everything on the test if you understand the concepts.
