@michelle426 I don’t mind doing homework…if it’s graded. Otherwise if I understand the material and know what to do, I can spend my afternoons sleeping. I-)
Hey guys, I glanced at the Barron’s review books and for some reason the 5th edition seems to be a lot worse than the 4th edition. Would it better to just get the 5th edition rather than risk it and go for the 4th edition?
I’m thinking about self-studying this course but my question is which one (out of the two) is the “easiest” to learn and not requiring you to have a background knowledge in economics (before you start studying). The thing is that I’m taking AP Bio, APWH, and AP Psych (self-studying) with Sat II World History and Chem (both in June). I don’t want to this to take a huge toll in my regular core classes (like English II, Chem, and Common Core Geometry) and experience a decrease in my overall average and regents grade (statewide exams).
I doubt many of us had a background in Econ before taking AP, other than what we gleaned from reading the paper. Which is easier? Probably depends on the individual. I didn’t find either overly taxing, but of the 2, I thought macro was a bit easier.
Thank you @skieurope. May I ask what is the best prep book/textbook for this class?
I used Princeton Review for prep. I think any good textbook is fine; I just used the text used for my class, which was Principles of Economics by N. Gregory Mankiw.
The most cost-effective study tool is the internet and Barron’s AP prep books.
What are you guys doing right now? Are there people who are self studying this course (and also self studying other APs)? The Econ teacher said he’ll give me worksheets on a monthly basis as “Macro is a really easy course.”
Our teacher gives us monthly packets from the Student Resource Manual, which are really good practice worksheets
@glassflowers Do you have a link for that or is it something that you can only get physically.
When I took both Macro and Micro last year as a sophomore, I found that the Princeton Review book and ACDC Leadership videos saved my life! I literally knew nothing about Micro 2 days before the exam. After powering through all the ACDC Leadership videos, I learned an entire semesters info in an hour and somehow got 4s on both exams. PM me if you guys have any questions.
My school’s Macro pass rate plummeted from an already low 79% to a pitiful 70%.
@darkcrescendo My class has finished PPCs, talked about the basic differences between the types of economies (Market, Control, and Traditional), and we started Supply & Demand

That’s the unit 2 link - I’m sure if you search it up online, there’s an online copy somewhere (there usually is for the worksheet page answer keys)
Is it possible to self study ap econ without a textbook?
Yes
I’m taking both tests (1 course) as a freshman. Does anyone have any advice? (especially on studying )
What textbooks do you guys use for Macro? We used Mankiw for Micro, but it seems like we’re switching to Economics Today by Miller for Macro. Have you guys heard of it?
I’m taking both tests as well @positivevibes, but I’m only in macro, which the easier which worries me…
I am trying to self study for both tests. I just started toward the end of January and will be devoting probably an hour either every day or every other day toward the course. Are there any advice past test takers could give me and what sections/concepts did you find to be the most difficult/most important to look over?
