AP or no AP?

So I am a junior this year in high school and I am currently taking 4 AP classes: AP Biology, AP Language & Composition, AP Psychology, and APUSH. I am okay with all my AP classes except my AP Lang class. I have it as my last period and because I am in a sport, this means I will be going to miss a majority of that class during the season which doesn't end until late October. I thought about switching periods, but that would affect my schedule entirely, and it wouldn't work out. I was debating whether or not I should drop out not only because of the sport but because I'm not sure if I can successfully handle all 4 of my AP classes. My teacher said we'll be doing lots of writing and such in that class and if we were to miss it, we would have to make it up somehow and being in extracurricular activities is no excuse. Should I just drop out and switch to honors just to be safe? I know junior year is important and I want to do well. Please give me your opinions.

Am I posting in the right forum? Or should this be in the “High School Life” forum?

I would drop either APUSH or AP Bio. These two are probably the most work intensive. I practically had the same schedule as you, except i didn’t take AP Bio. I also played a sport in jr. year, while taking just APUSH, APLANG, and APPSYCH. Everyday I felt so tired and burnt out in order to do well. It really wasn’t worth risking my physical health like this. So trust me, drop one of them.

I don’t think it’d be that hard to deal with. It depends on your strengths and weaknesses though. If you’re good at English, the class should only be a time-consumer, not one that actually requires much effort. If you don’t like English or something then maybe you could drop it as long as your taking the next highest class because, like you said, Junior year is really important.

What colleges are you aiming for?

UCLA, UCI, UCSD, Berkley, mainly the UC’s

Try to talk to your teacher in person about this matter. Try to arrange a meeting between you, your parents, your teacher, and your coach and work something out.

if you can’t get the schedule switched, then you should drop AP Lit

Well I don’t even like this subject anyways so like I think being in this class will be make me unhappy just 'cause of the subject itself. But for for sure during my senior year I will be taking AP Lit. I mean it’s good enough to be taking three AP’s junior year right?

3 is good. Don’t feel pressured to take all APs Jr and Sr year like some people do. Anywhere from 3-7 APs in high school is just enough; anything over that is just showing off.

Yeah, I think I’m just going to drop out of that class. I just hope this decision won’t be the reason I get rejected to a certain school.
