AP Psych or AP French

I am a high school junior and next year I’ve signed up for AP French, but I’m thinking about taking AP Psych instead (swapping classes). I have 4 years of french already, but will taking Psych instead of finishing the 5th year look bad to colleges? (I am thinking of applying to UPenn’s M&T program, or just to Wharton/SEAS individually - how much will that affect it?)

Also, which course is harder? I’m not as interested in french but I’ve been told by past students to finish out all five years

I would choose AP French, unless you have a genuine interest in Psychology.

AP French will be harder unless your fluent but it will look better than psychology. Psychology is interesting but if you don’t take it trust me your not missing much. Just my opinion

I’m taking both. I prefer AP French, but both are very interesting and rewarding classes. If you’d rather take Psych, do that – having four years of a language is already great – but make sure you’re really interested in Psych and it’s not just a “hey this maybe looks cool I guess” impulse.

Feel free to ask me any questions about either class.

Depends on how good/bad you have previously done in French classes. Also, I would recommend you to look at your friends’ AP Psych notes. If you like it, then go for it. If not, then just stick to French since you’re already familiarized with it.

It’s possible to take both tests if you are willing to self study. Since you have taken so many years of French, you may be able to pass the AP test with a few practice materials.

You can also self-study AP Psychology, since it is a less rigorous course.

If you’re not interested in French, you should take AP Psychology. Taking a class you are disinterested in will obviously not be fun.
