AP Psychology class

Does it look bad if I took the AP psychology exam during junior year( because my school does not offer an AP Psychology class) and then took a normal psychology class during senior year because I am highly interested in it?

It would seem very strange, especially if you make a 5 on the exam. Personally, I’d think you were trying to get an easy A, but of course, I can’t speak for admissions officers. You should call the schools you’re interested in and ask them directly.

^What Exodus said.

You can try the following options:

 1. Take normal psychology and the AP Psych test junior year, then relegate a junior-year class you would’ve taken to senior year
 2. Take AP Statistics senior year if you weren’t previously planning to (Statistics goes hand-in-hand with Psychology as a major/career)
 3. Take something similar if your school offers it, like Sociology (or at a nearby community college)
 4. Form a club at your school at the end of junior year (for senior year) that’s related to Psychology (stuff like debate team? might be a stretch though), in order to demonstrate to colleges your interest in the subject, or at least in deep thinking

I doubt you’d learn anything new from a CP Psychology class that you wouldn’t know from self-studying AP Psychology. Especially in terms of vocabulary.
