AP Score Change?

My kid took an AP Class in 5/2017 and was disappointed with her “4”. Her Stats Teacher was bragging to the class that she made a “5”—mentioned her by name as having aced the test. Should we pay to rescore? It was just an oddly specific reference by the teacher.

If you want to spend the $30, go for it. Personally, I wouldn’t for a 4.

That said, the rescore only applies to the MC part, and the odds, IMO, of a rescore going from a 4 to a 5 are 0. The only successful rescore stories I have heard have occurred when the CB could not find the MC sheet or the FRQ booklet, and then prorated the exam score. Obviously with a 4, there is no chance that one of the components was lost before being originally scored.

Obviously, the teacher was wrong.

Ask the teacher to look at his/her source again. If there’s a discrepancy then it’s worth investigating. If the teacher made a mistake, then fine (but really teachers shouldn’t be broadcasting others’ results!).

If it’s the former, it seems unlikely rescoring will do anything.
