The only AP test I took last year was the Euro test, and sadly I only got a 3. The thing is, I registered with the wrong middle initial. Instead of writing J as my middle initial, I wrote N, for reasons I won't go into right now. As a junior this year, I'll be taking 3 more tests in May, and probably another 5 or 6 next year as a senior. However, I've asked college board and they won't be able to fix my name error. Also, they told me if I register future AP tests under the right name, they won't be able to merge my correct name's account with my Euro score. I know that it's not that big of a deal, since I won't be able to get credit for a 3 anyways. However, do you think the college will find it odd if I self-report a 3 for Euro, but when I send my scores in, it won't show the Euro score? Or would you recommend that I just use the same name that I registered with the Euro test, even if it isn't my correct name? Would the college be able to match it to my profile, even if it is just off by the middle initial? If I do end up just registering with the correct name, I will only have AP Scholar by the time I apply instead of AP Scholar with Honor or whatever it is because my Euro score wouldn't be counted. Any advice would be awesome right now, because I'm really starting to freak out and drive myself crazy over this. Thanks!

Talk to your school's guidance counselor, or your AP Euro teacher. Personally I would say to use your real name for the next 8-9 AP tests of your high school career.

As for your AP Scholar problem-- click here. AP Scholar w/ Distinction is for grades of 3 or higher on five or more exams and an average score of 3.5. Since you have 8-9 exams coming up it's likely you'll still get this award (provided you do a pretty decent job on them).

You don't need to officially send your AP scores in when you apply to college. I self-reported mine and it was fine. It's usually when you get accepted somewhere you plan on attending that the official scores matter, so they can give you credit/placement options. And like you said, you usually won't get credit for a 3 anyway.

Stop stressing! This is seriously not worth driving yourself crazy for.

Thanks for the advice. The only other thing I'm worried about is that if I do well on the three AP tests I have this year, I'll have a total of 4 by the time I apply. Usually that would be AP Scholar with Honor. However, if I start a new account by registering with my real name, I'll only have AP Scholar. Do you think they will find it odd if I self report a 3 or higher on 4 exams, but I only report having AP Scholar? Or could I techincally list having AP Scholar with Honor? I mean, I would certainly qualify for it, it's just that I wouldn't officially have the "with Honor" part if I register now with my real name. :(

I really don't think it matters that much. I agree w/ asfh09...certainly not worth worrying about. I really don't think that the AP Titles mean much anyway in the scheme of college decisions. Colleges are looking for the number of AP courses you took, and in terms of application decisions, they'll be looking at your grade transcripts. If someone gets all 5's on APs, it's worth noting on their application, but in your case, don't sweat it.

just remember to use your real initial (and SSN) on these kinds of things in the future. The hassles that it could cause (for whatever reasons you have) aren't worth it.
