AP Scores

During Undergraduate Admissions do Colleges really care about what score you scored? Also do you even send the scores to schools during the admission process? Thanks in advance!

Also want to know this

Most posters will tell you that only the selective schools will consider your AP scores, but this are based on your applications self-reported scores. You do not need to send AP scores to the schools until the end of your Senior year and only to the school you will be attending. The majority of the schools will only use these scores for college credit and not admissions.

@Gumbymom Do Ivy leagues consider them a lot? How about UC Berkeley and UCLA? Also are 4s considered good to them and show them that you mastered the subject? Or are they only impressed by 5s?

AP scores do not matter as much as SAT/SAT II/ACT scores. However, if you took the AP course, then you should probably submit your AP score (4s are fine, not everybody that gets into HYPSM has straight 5s), otherwise the college might assume that you scored lower than you actually did.

@Archlion I doubt they’re impressed by any score because so many people will be getting 5s, but a 4 is fine. The majority of the schools will only use these scores for college credit and not admissions.

There are several dozen threads regarding this subject. I think the main concern is that if you get an A in an AP class but a low AP test score, it may indicate to admission officers that your school has grade inflation and could question the rest of your grades on the transcript. One low AP score should have little impact but several may be a red flag.
