AP Self-Study

How do colleges look at people that self-study AP courses?

Should I take an online AP course?

Taking an AP course online is basically self-studying for it except you have exercises and tests.
The way colleges will look at you depends on other students in your grade and how many AP courses your school offers. If your school offers like 20-30 AP courses, then self studying helps, but it's not going to help a lot. Also it depends on your classmates as I said before. If they have taken or self studied for the samething you are self studying for, or if they have even more or equal amounts of AP courses you have, then it's not going to make a big difference, but self studying does show initiative.
