Self Studying AP's - Do they help?

<p>I was just wondering,</p>

<p>Do self study and online courses actually help on your college applications?
I'm taking courses to look good, not for placement. My high school has a pretty good program with most of the core courses, but that's about it. Is it worth it to take online classes and maybe get credit or to self study?</p>

<p>i would think self-study but that is my personal opinion..it shows you have self-motivation..:)</p>

<p>It definitely shows dedication, but if you load up on the "soft" APs, they might not have the same effect.</p>
