Hi guys, well I'm thinking of trying to get the AP Siemens Award in the state of Illinois during my junior year (next school year). How stiff do you think the competition is going to be? I plan on taking 5-6 of the qualifying APs. Considering I get all 5s, do you think that will be enough to get me the Male Siemens State Award in IL? Any help is appreciated. Also if you know how many tests guys got 5s on to qualify in the past years (in IL), please post. Thanks!

Is AP Siesmens Award the one awarded to students with cumulative score of 5 on 8 AP exams?

No, this is the AP Siemens: [Siemens Foundation - AboutSAAP](<a href=“Siemens Foundation - Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy - Siemens USA”>Siemens Foundation - Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy - Siemens USA).

Not exactly sure about Illinois, but many people who get this reward tend to actually be going for the State AP Scholar award. These individuals just end up getting 5s on most/all of the science and math ones.

Oh Thanks!!!
I will aim for that!

Ok, thanks 187.

Doesn’t Siemens foundation know that AP Computer Science AB has been discontinued?

Yeah I was wondering why AB wasn’t on the College Board website. Odd…

I wonder if they’ll replace AB with A now that AB is discontinued.

There are chances that Computer Science A will replace AB because it does incorporate AB materials.

I was wondering the same thing while exploring the site!

Nice, I heard A is easier than AB. But then again, more people might get 5s on it now.

I emailed Siemens Foundation about our question. They quickly returned a reply! Here is exactly the reply:

So yeah, A will replace AB :)

What do you guys think about NY? Would I have to get a 5 on all of the APs listed to get the scholarship?

^Unfortunately, I think you would. Don’t take my word for it but I think in the past, you needed to get 8 5s to get male state Siemens Scholar in NY. Fortunately, if you do achieve this, you might even get male National Siemens Scholar as well (depending on your actual raw scores). Also, thanks for the new info aquamarina.

Thanks acehero, I don’t think I’ll be shooting for it then, because I’ll only be taking Physics B next year, and neither of the other two Physics APs.

^No problem, remember I’m not 100% sure though, so it might be best to clarify with someone who’s positive about this.
