AP Siemens thread (another one by me LOL)

Ok so for everyone who is contending for this award, post how you think you did on each AP math/science by the following scale:

95%+ = "perfect"
90-95% = "near-perfect"
75% - 90% = "moderate"
floor score for 5 - 75% = "low"

this thread aint gettin many responses ROFLMAO

whats the ap siemens award

It's given to the top 100 kids in the nation (1 girl 1 boy from each state) who get the most 5's on math/science APs.

These are:
Comsci AB
Calc BC
Physics C (both)
Chem
Enviro
Stat
Bio

In the event of a tie (i.e, multiple students who have 8s or something like that for each state), composite scores are used to see who is superior. That's why I made sure to get as many points as possible...although that com sci AB and physics e and m are gonna ring in as lower 5s than I woulda hoped, but oh well lol.

State winners receive 2000 dollars a piece...national winners (top boy and girl of these 100) get another 5000...

Here's the catch:

This all has to be done by the end of 11th grade, lol. Since only 500 people get national AP scholar before senior year every year and 75% of these people are probably not taking all math/science APs...just doing so puts you in elite status...though getting 5s on all 8 should win you your state and getting an average of "near-perfect" per exam should net you the national prize.

Anyway, at the huge risk of ****ing EVERYONE off lol...I'll put up my "hopeful predictions"

calc bc (06) - near-perfect
bio (06) - near-perfect
physics mech - perfect
physics e and m - moderate
chem - perfect
stat - perfect
comp sci - low
environmental science - taking on 24th, hoping for a moderate to offset that compsci....

gimme a bump LOL

Umm... okay. Piccolo, I must say that your threads are becoming increasingly...arcane? How many people on this discussion board do you think are consciously striving for the Siemens Award AND are willing to post something like, "Yeah, I got nearly perfect on every single AP that's required for the award."

Wait, never mind, you already anticipated nonresponse. But still...you should be studying for that Env. Sci. test!

ohhh man do I haaaave to? I got 8 days.... lol

Yeah I'm the forum clown lol. I might have a semblance of a brain, but I love to put LOL or ROFLMAO in every single post....LOL! (there I did it again)

From Minnesota...not much competition

calc bc - perfect
physics mech - perfect
physics e and m - perfect
chem - low
stat - perfect (like...actually perfect)
comp sci - low
environmental science - moderate

didn't take bio....w/e

you have to take all of those in the same year?

I got a couple out of the way last year and this year so I won't have too much to send in next year

how do you know that only 500 juniors get ap national scholar?

also, is this valued highly by adcoms?

it wont show up for adcoms unless you take all 8 and get 5s on them by the end of 10th grade...

and I read a stat somwhere saying that last year 430 of the 2000+ national AP scholars got it before senior year.

Why wasn't I told about this. I totally could have done it :).

yeah, very few people even KNOW about it lol, I think maybe HALF of the 500 people even know about it, and only half of that many even shoot for it...of course if you don't take all 8 you are NOT getting the national award, and if you live in a competitive state you probably won't get it then either.

AP Central says that there were 7000+ National Scholars in 2006. Is this too high a number? Where did you get your info, piccolo?

Yeah, I'll probably have 8 5s by Junior year and if I knew about this award I would've chosen those specific science ones. The two exams I absolutely aced by huge margins were calc bc and stat!

Yeah...that's ALL national scholars, not those who became so by end of junior year. Someone once posted that 435 people fell into the category I just described a year ago.
